Senior Manchester United officials are questioning if Jose Mourinho is the right man to lead the club. This is following Manchester United’s Tuesday’s shock exit from the Champions League.
United was sent packing from the competition after Sevilla won 2-1 at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho has been widely criticized for his conservative approach to games. The result has made the FA cup quarter final against Brighton this week take on added importance. This is the only chance of silverware for United this season.
However, Mourinho retains the total support of United Chief, Ed Woodward but some boardroom members are not comfortable with his style of football. There are concerns that the Red Devils could take several years before becoming serious contenders for the EPL title.
Manchester United fans are not impressed especially with the brilliant football their rivals are playing under Pep Guardiola. This has raised doubts within Old Trafford about how Mourinho, who won titles in his second season at four previous clubs will do so for United next season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has said he is supportive of his Manchester United counterpart. Jose Mourinho, after they were dumped out of the Champions league by Sevilla on Tuesday. Wenger himself is under serious criticism from both media and fans as the Gunners endure a miserable campaign. The Frenchman has also seen Arsenal exit in the round of 16 of the Champions League for the last seven years.
