Cristiano Ronaldo netted his 50th career hat trick as Real Madrid defeated Girona in La Liga on Sunday. Ronaldo scored four times as Real Madrid thumped Girona 6-3 to seal the third spot on the table.

The Portuguese international took his tally to 22 goals this season. Ronaldo has now scored 17 times in his last eight games for the La Liga champions in all competitions. Lucas Vasquez and Gareth Bale scored the other goals for Real Madrid.

The victory gives Real Madrid 60 points on the league table. They are presently in third place and 15 points behind the Liga leaders Barcelona.

La Liga: Barcelona Remain Unbeaten In 35 Games

Barcelona continued their unbeaten run on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Athletico Bilbao. This victory puts the Catalan club on course for a 25th LaLiga title this season. Paco Alcacer and Lionel Messi scored both goals in the first half to give them the comfortable lead.

Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde was unable to name the suspended Luis Suarez and injured Sergio Busquets in his team. It also extends their unbeaten run to 35 games in the league.

Barcelona is now 11 points clear at the top of LaLiga with nine games to play after Athletico Madrid 2-1 defeat at Villareal.
