Liverpool thrashed Manchester City’s hope of a treble this season with a 3-0 bashing in the first of the Champions League Quater final.
Pep Guardiola’s men have already secured the league trophy and are one win away from being crowned Premier League Champions. Mohammed Salah continued his impressive form with the opener firing a loose ball past Ederson.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain made it 2-0 with a decent long-range effort before Sadio Mane scored the third before halftime. Manchester City will need a miracle at the Etihad on Tuesday for them to overturn the result.
However, Manchester City’s team bus was badly damaged before the clash on Wednesday night. It was confirmed that nobody was hurt but the vehicle had to be replaced.
Liverpool is expected to give a statement and apologize at boardroom level. Liverpool is also the only team to have defeated Pep Guardiola’s men in the Premier League this season and now in the champions league.
Barcelona Beat Roma 4-1 At The Nou Camp
Barcelona beat Roma 4-1 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash on Wednesday night. The La Liga giants opened the scoring with two own goals from Daniele De Rossi and Konstantinos Manolas.
Gerard Pique scored the third before Edin Dzeko pulled one back for Roma at the Nou Camp. Luis Suarez made it a route with a brilliant finish to give Barcelona a three-goal advantage into the second leg. The second leg of the quarter-final tie will be played next Tuesday in Rome.
